Bindi Irwin has arrived back into Australia after her brother became a household name in the US. If you have been living under a rock, Robert Irwin won the American version of Dancing With The Stars last week.

He had his whole family’s support during the gruelling three-month competition, with Bindi, Chandler and their daughter Grace even moving to the US to be by his side. But the 27-year-old has now come home and she shared what the family did first.

“The first thing Grace wanted to do? See her best friend, Igloo,” Bindi wrote on social media.

Igloo is Australia Zoo’s giant Aldabra tortoise.

Bindi shared a clip of her daughter playing with the animal that was nearly as big as her, with Grace feeding it a stick of leaves while dad Chandler looked on.

Robert’s win in the US was timed perfectly as it allowed Bindi to come back to Australia just in time for a major event on the family’s calendar.

She got all glammed up for the annual Steve Irwin gala, which is a “celebration of the life and legacy of the original Wildlife Warrior”.

There are twin events held in Brisbane and Las Vegas that honour Steve’s “larger than life” personality.

The gala featured an important message from Prince William, who honoured the late Aussie icon

“Steve’s mission in life was to safeguard life on our planet. Tonight’s event is all about carrying forward that dedication to conservation and the natural world,” he said in a video address.

“Today, over eight billion people share earth with a vast array of fauna, flora and precious ecosystems.

“We’re approaching a defining moment. As temperatures rise, animals and plants face extinction, water resources diminish and waste accumulates, these tipping points could reshape life on Earth unless we take collective action now.

“Steve Irwin was dedicated to conservation. He advocated for wildlife and wild places across the globe. Dreamed of clean air, abundant, healthy oceans and a stable climate for the future generations.

“Today, his family continue this work towards these critical goals.”

What’s next for the Irwin family?

Bindi and her family are now back in Australia and she will continue working at Australia Zoo.

Robert has just celebrated his 22nd birthday and received messages from fans and celebrities around the world.

He said he is keen to come to Australia “soon” but he’ll be whisked off to South Africa soon to film the next season of I’m A Celebrity alongside Julia Morris.

The 22-year-old could also be heading over to the US more after his Dancing With The Stars win as brands vie to recruit him for major deals.

His victory marked the second Irwin win on the US version of the show, with Bindi taking out the Mirrorball Trophy 10 years ago.

The big question now is whether they can make it three from three and get Irwin matriarch on the show.

Robert told The Hollywood Reporter that this will be his next big mission.

“Listen, the petition to have my mum on Dancing With the Stars has begun, and I started it,” he said.

“I started this season, and she is firmly like, ‘Nope, I’m not doing it. That’s not for me!’”

‘And I’m like, ‘Well, I’m gonna wear you down’, so let’s wear her down and get her on there, because I think she would be great.”
