After just four weeks – the shortest Big Brother season to date on Channel 10 – the winner of this year’s season has finally been crowned. Following Edward and Conor’s evictions on Sunday night, the final five people left standing were: Allana, Bruce, Coco, Colin, and Emily.

The winner of the competition takes a prize pool of $135,000, and after a nail-biting finale, host Mel Tracina announced that the public chose mum-of-three Coco to take the crown this year. She said the experience has been “life-changing” and that the money will go a long way.

“That would be my future, the future for my children and myself. That would be absolutely insane. I can’t believe this,” she said.

The 30-year-old from NSW added that her kids gave her strength during the show.

“I missed my beautiful babies, more than anything in the entire world, but they were the reason that kept me going,” she said.

Fans had hoped Emily would take out the crown, with countless viewers sharing their love for her online.

Many wrote that she had a funny personality and hadn’t thrown anyone under the bus during her time on the show, making her worthy of a win.

“Emily! She’s completely authentic and random,” one person wrote on Instagram.

“I’m hoping it’s Emily!” said another. “The most genuine person in there. Go team Emily!”

“I love Emily, she has made me laugh so much!” wrote a third.

Some were also begging for Colin to take the crown, after he won over their hearts during the season with his adorable energy.

This year, viewers were both outraged and deeply interested in the topics that came up in the housemates’ conversations.

A conversation around “pretty privilege” and another between about wanting a “tradwife” created major talking points around the country.

Fans praised the show and said these were “the real life conversations” they wanted to see.

One moment had fans fuming, however, when Colin was ranked as having the lowest intelligence of the group, leading to a heartbreaking moment where he broke down in tears.

Fans outraged over major twist ahead of finale

It comes after fans were stunned over the way popular housemate Edward Doak was eliminated on Sunday night despite not being up for eviction.

The surprise twist came when the housemates received letters from home, which were read aloud.

Bruce read Edward’s letter that claimed to be from his “mum”, telling him how proud she was for everything he’d done in the Big Brother house.

However, the tone quickly shifted and the housemates soon realised it was Big Brother himself, telling Edward he’d been eliminated following a public vote.

“That was so brutal!” one viewer wrote on Instagram.

Others described it as “cruel” and “ruthless” and compared it to Vinnie Brigante’s eviction last week, which saw him sent home in the early hours of the morning after a few hours of public voting.

The contestants were taking part in a late night carolling challenge, where they were woken in the middle of the night to put on festive outfits and race to a stage to perform ‘Jingle Bells’.

In a shock moment, Big Brother changed the lyrics of the final verse, revealing voting had closed and Vinnie had been evicted.

Like Edward, Vinnie had 30 seconds to say goodbye before leaving the house.
