EXCLUSIVE: Sonny and Alicia fear they’re about to break a record on The Block, and not a good one – will they be the only team to fail to win a room the entire season?
The Queensland couple cried to cameras after coming to the devastating realisation that after 11 weeks of tireless renovating, they’d never come out on top at Room Reveals.
“We’re going home and we haven’t won a room. It’s embarrassing,” Alicia said through tears.
“It’s just heartbreaking I guess. I just feel defeated I think.”

While Sonny and Alicia were losing steam, they officially had one week left to make sure they walked away with a room win.
Would Frontyard and Façade Week finally be their time to shine?
That’s not to say Sonny and Alicia haven’t been producing standout rooms. In fact they’ve snatched the silver prize and come a mere point away from the win on more than one occasion.
The judges scored House 4’s alfresco and terrace an impressive 29 out of 30 and they were narrowly pipped by their House 5 neighbours who snagged a perfect 30 by presenting their wine cellar as well.

In hopes of a win, Sonny and Alicia sat down with Freedom stylist Serena to talk all things outdoor living.
They shared some handy tips along the way. Find out what they are in the video above or keep reading:
Prioritise function over fluff
When designing your outdoor space, step back and ask yourself how you’ll actually use it every day.
Sonny and Alicia prioritised comfortable lounging zones, a pizza oven and a sink for maximum usability. The judges agreed this was far more valuable than fancy bells and whistles.

“Lounging is living, lounging is what you do with multiple generations of family,” judge Marty Fox said.
“That is where the value is, that is what luxury is.”
Introduce lightness to ground dark tones
Decking and paving often feature deeper, richer colours, which can risk making a space feel enclosed or heavy.
Take a note out of Sonny and Alicia’s book and combat this by selecting lighter furniture and incorporating soft, tactile materials.
House 4 opted for rattan dining chairs and lounges with natural cushions.
“It could feel really hard but it doesn’t because it’s got that lovely soft counterpoint of these wovens, curves and the soft rugs underneath,” judge Darren Palmer said.
A pop of brightness goes a long way. (Nine)
Never underestimate the value of green space
As parents of three kids, Sonny and Alicia know the value of a lawn.
Dedicating a simple, well-maintained area of grass where kids can run and play will create countless family memories.
Plus greenery provides a crucial visual break from hard surfaces and ensures the entire area feels fresh, balanced and connected to nature.
