Who will get a second chance at love?
We had The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise and now, The Golden Bachelor – but could a Golden Bachelorette soon hit our screens?
Australian fans of the Bachelor franchise are hopeful the format could come Down Under following its success in America, and they already have their leading lady picked.

The last week of The Golden Bachelor saw transformation coach Jan Herman eliminated in a heartbreaking rose ceremony before the hometown dates.
“I definitely deserve love, and I know that,” she remarked in her final interview on the show.
Now, fans are calling for the 66-year-old to get a second chance at love – but she isn’t the only name in discussions for the possible spin-off series.

Will there be a Golden Bachelorette in Australia?
The idea of a Golden Bachelorette hitting our screens in the future isn’t completely left of field. The first season of The Golden Bachelor in the US in 2023 spawned a spin-off titled The Golden Bachelorette the following year, which starred former contestant Joan Vassos.
Contestants from both ‘Golden’ series went on to star in another successful franchise: Bachelor in Paradise.
There’s no denying the Bachelor franchise loves a spin-off, and some of Australia’s favourite Bachie seasons have followed leading ladies on the search for love (who can forget Sophie Monk’s season?!).
But, is it likely that a spin-off could come from the divisive debut season that followed Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden? Well, according to show host Samantha Armytage, it’s not completely off the table.
“As we say with this show, you don’t know what the future holds,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this year.
“So I think let’s just get The Golden Bachelor’s inaugural Australian season to air and see how that goes, but I think there is a bright future ahead for this show.”

Who would be the Golden Bachelorette in Australia?
According to well-placed insiders, several of the women from the hit series have fallen out over early discussions about who should front the highly anticipated Golden Bachelorette spin off.
While nothing has been locked in, Sonny, Bianca Dye and Abbie Chatfield’s mum, Laura, have all been floated by producers, and the conversations among the ladies have reportedly been tense.
“It started out as a bit of fun. Everyone was joking about who would Channel Nine pick but then things got competitive,” one insider tells Woman’s Day. “Now there’s a bit of tension. Everyone wants to be seen as the fan favourite.”
The source says Bianca, who charmed viewers with her sense of humour and heart, has quietly made it known she’d love to hand out the roses herself, believing she’d bring warmth and wit to the franchise.
Meanwhile, Sonny has reportedly gained traction with executives thanks to her authenticity and no-nonsense attitude on set. “Sonny was cast as a stage five clinger but Australia has fallen in love with her.” Confirms a Golden Bachelor source.
“Producers love Sonny’s energy,” the insider continues. “She’s funny, she’s real and she’s exactly the kind of woman viewers root for.”

But perhaps the most surprising name still in the mix is Abbie Chatfield’s mum, Laura. Who was barely seen in the current series but did make an impact during filming. Her larger than life presence was edited down to a brief cameo and some think that was due to bigger plans in the future.
“Laura’s connection to Abbie has given her a profile the network can’t ignore,” the source adds. “She’s confident, outspoken and unfiltered. Which is exactly what The Golden Bachelorette would need to stand out.”
However, some of the women have reportedly grown wary of how the casting buzz is being handled.
“There have been whispers that certain people are calling in favours and trying to position themselves as the front-runner,” says another insider. “It’s created a bit of friction in what was a really tight group.”
While no official announcement has been made, Woman’s Day understands that producers are eager to lock in their leading lady before Christmas. With a source revealing the network wants to film The Golden Bachelorette sooner rather than later.
