As The Golden Bachelor approaches its end, the competition to win Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden’s heart is well and truly heating up. Sunday night’s episode saw two fan favourites, 58-year-old CEO Sunny and 60-year-old doctor Kim, clash at the cocktail party while discussing their individual connections with Bear.

Tension had been brewing for quite some time between the pair, as Kim’s dramatic arrival in a Porsche during the very first cocktail party interrupted Sunny’s one-on-one time with Bear. They then had a light-hearted tiff while discussing erotica novels, with Sunny saying she “loved” Fifty Shades of Grey because it was “eye-opening”, and Kim calling it “yucky” and “boring”.

During Sunday night’s episode, the pair had a very awkward conversation comparing their relationships with Bear and what he had told each of them.

Kim, who has been twice widowed, then called Sunny out when she said she felt “so sorry” for Bear after he lost his wife to cancer 14 years ago.

“What I was always fearful of, having experienced the same sort of loss as Bear, is that people want to be with you because they feel sorry for you, and I think that’s a trap you can fall into with someone who’s lost someone,” Kim shared.

“People who lose someone don’t want to have people feel sorry for them.”

‘There’s an intense connection’

Sunny, who has been very open about her connection with Bear, then asked Kim if she felt “friend-zoned” by him, which she quickly shut down.

“Definitely not a friendzone, definitely comfortable in a lover’s way, and I don’t feel sorry for him at all. I feel proud of him,” Kim said.

“There’s an intense connection, and it will be devastating if it doesn’t sort of come to fruition.”

At the rose ceremony, Bear chose to take Sunny, Kim, and Janette through to Hometowns, saying goodbye to Gera and Jan, who received the first impression rose.

Kim speaks out about ‘drama’

Kim spoke with Yahoo Lifestyle ahead of the season premiere last month and admitted that there was some “drama” amongst the cast during filming.

“There was drama, because you’ll never get a whole bunch of anybody together without drama, but I don’t think it was nasty drama,” she detailed.

“It was fun drama, it was powerful, we were all challenging each other and making ourselves do better. It was fun, but yes, there were moments of drama.”

Meanwhile, Sunny told Yahoo Lifestyle she had a “wonderful time” filming the show, but admitted it was difficult at first being surrounded by women after working in such a male-dominated field.

“I’m in the IT industry, which is always men, so I hire men, I fire men, and I order them around. And suddenly, I’m in a huge group of women,” she remarked.

“The first couple of days, I was thinking, ‘Oh my god, what’s going on?’, but I enjoyed the camaraderie and the support everyone was giving to each other, and that was one of the best takeaways. It was beautiful.”
