Meet the Elizabeth Bay mansion behind every rose ceremony.

If you find yourself more obsessed with the filming location of The Golden Bachelor Australia than the budding onscreen romances, we don’t blame you. The franchise is famous for its stunning backdrops, from sandstone mansions around Sydney, from the North Shore to the Northern Beaches and Glenorie, but its the mystery mansion from the most recent season of The Golden Bachelor that’s capturing everyone’s attention.
The first in its ‘Golden’ era, the series offshoot where all of the contestants are over age-50, the glamorous sandstone waterfront home is certainly befitting of its luxurious name. To find out where The Golden Bachelor Australia is filmed, and who owns the grand estate, read on.

Where is The Golden Bachelor filmed?
A stately heritage home located at 97 Elizabeth Bay Road, Elizabeth Bay, Tresco has been called the most distinguished waterfront estate in Australasia. It was designed by leading architect Thomas Rowe back in 1868 to 1883 and today sits on 3600 square-metres of prime Sydney waterfront land. It offers breathtaking northerly harbour views, magnificent formal entertaining rooms, seven luxurious bedrooms, a private ocean pool, two jetties, a 1000-bottle cellar and separate maid quarters.

Owned by Australian racing royalty, the Waterhouse family, the 150-year-old property is currently under the ownership of Janette Waterhouse, the former wife of David Waterhouse (who is the son of the late Bill Waterhouse: businessman, barrister, and one of the biggest bookmakers in the world). Janette and David purchased Tresco in 2004 for $11 million, and attempted to find a buyer in 2024, listing it for $120 million. It failed to sell at the time, but the family is reportedly still looking for a buyer.

Frequented by high society, and once visited by Prince Philip as the Guest of Honour at the Royal Australian Navy’s 75th birthday celebration, the Victorian manor must have plenty of stories to tell.
Tresco is available to book for private events via the luxury property rental platfrom, Villa Getaways. Well, when The Golden Bachelor has finished filming, that is!
