Jules Sebastian loves her kids, her husband and Christmas.

Growing up, she had “magical” experiences with her mum decking out the house from the start of December.

“My mum made Christmas just always so very special,” she tells nine.com.au.

“Especially in the lead up to Christmas … then always on Christmas Eve, we’d have that beautiful moment where the lights go down and you’re anticipating Santa is coming.

“There are a few presents under the tree, but not all of them, and you know there’s gonna be more in the morning.

“Stockings are out, Mum would make a small meal for dinner, and she would absolutely deck the house out with Christmas decorations.”

Now, she is determined to give her children the same “magical” experience.

“I just want my kids to have that same feeling, I want them to have those butterflies in their tummy [on Christmas Eve] of what’s going to happen the next day,” she said.

“For me, that’s always been how I see Christmas and what I’ve always tried to do in our own home, basically do the same thing, just make sure Christmas Eve feels really exciting for the kids.”

“Even the spirit of it all, family is a huge part of it. They know it’s the one time of the year that everyone gets together.”

Sebastian also starts decorating her house in early December, with a major part of her decor being a Balsam Hill Christmas tree.

“I’ve just always loved what they do around Christmas … their trees are second to none,” she said.

“We’ve got this huge one that’s set up in the foyer every Christmas, and it just looks real.

“I’m all about wrapping the gifts, how I wrap them, choosing a different theme every year for the tree.”

Sebastian loves her tree so much, she agreed to be the lead creative for Balsam Hill’s 2025 Christmas campaign.

Despite the working mum being pulled in so many directions, she stepped outside her usual business ventures to embark on this Christmas collaboration.

“How I’ve structured my life and business is family always comes first,” she explains.

“That will always be my number one priority, so whatever anybody needs on that side of the fence that comes first.

“In terms of my businesses and podcast, it’s a very clear pillar.

“It’s a lot of food stuff, making cocktails, doing fashion stuff, and then there’s the Sebastian foundation.

“Anything outside of that, it’s pretty clearly a no, but Christmas is an exception.

“To keep on track and protect my peace and not get overwhelmed, I just have kind of a clear direction in what I take on.”
