It’s been a year since Karl Stefanovic admitted that an embarrassing shirtless beach photo caused James Packer to demand he ‘get into shape’.

And the Today host, 51, has clearly listened to his friend’s advice, as Karl looked slimmer than ever this Thursday as he played golf on the Gold Coast.

Revealing his incredible weight loss in a black T-shirt and matching jeans, Karl was all smiles as he practiced his swing alongside his Today show team, including co-host Sarah Abo.

Karl completed his look with a stylish studded belt, trendy spectacles and some black-and-white sneakers.

At one stage, the TV larrikin lifted up his shirt to reveal a glimpse at his trimmed-down midsection.

Prior to hitting the golf course, Karl, Sarah and their Today crew were seen leaving the airport with their luggage.

According to an onlooker, the team – who were broadcasting from the Gold Coast earlier that day – had missed their flight back to Sydney and decided to pass the time on the golf course.

Karl and Sarah didn’t appear concerned about their bungled travel plans however, as they smiled and joked while strolling outside the terminal.

Sarah sported a white T-shirt and black jeans, while draping a cream sweater over her shoulders.

She accessorised her look with sunglasses, a gold chain necklace, bangles, earrings and rings.

Karl’s new look comes after he revealed the moment he was told he needed to hit the gym by best mate James Packer.

Appearing on The Kyle and Jackie O Show in November 2024, he said he was left humbled after a picture of him revealing his ‘dad bod’ on the beach led the billionaire businessman to text him.

‘There’s a shot of me on Christmas Day or whatever coming out of the surf, and it was bad,’ Karl told hosts Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and Kyle Sandilands.

‘James Packer sends me a note that says, “Mate, you need to get your a*** to the gym.”‘

James himself recently revealed he was still gaining weight despite admitting to being on Ozempic.

‘If you’re getting notes from Packer about that, you know it’s serious,’ Kyle said.

The photo in question was snapped in Byron Bay over the summer in 2019 when Karl was enjoying some downtime with Jasmine.

Karl even shared the photo to Instagram, joking with followers that he was pregnant.

‘After a great deal of speculation… the rumours are true,’ Karl captioned the cheeky post.

Jackie then asked Karl how he dealt with seeing such ‘confronting images’, and he said while he was embarrassed, Jasmine had always been very supportive.

‘I feel like it’s a lot of embarrassment, but then my wife is always so good about it,’ Karl said.

Back in 2020, Karl pledged to lose 10 kilograms in 10 weeks on the Today show after tipping the scales at over 100kg.

‘I started at 105kg, the heaviest I’ve ever been. It was incredibly embarrassing,’ Karl said as he spoke to obesity expert Dr Nick Fuller, who helped him on his fitness journey.
