Kyle Sandilands has revealed he’s torn and hesistant about attending his late friend John Laws’ state funeral next week.
The funeral will take place on November 19 at Sydney’s St Andrew’s Cathedral, after the highly respected radio broadcaster died at the age of 90 over the weekend.

“I remember my dad’s funeral, that really turned me off funerals because there were paparazzi there because he was my father,” he said.
“I just felt it was very intrusive and I didn’t like the spectacle of it all.
“I might go, I don’t know.”
Sandilands also revealed he declined to do any interviews following Laws’ death, saying it was “too sad for me”.

“All the TV news stations are ringing me from Sunday night [to comment on the death]… newspapers… I didn’t want to put a nice shirt on and go on TV and talk about my fond memories with John.
“I just thought, ‘It’s not about me. It’s too sad for me, I’m not into that’. I loved John laws. I may go to the funeral but sometimes I choose not to go.”
Laws had an incredible career spanning over 70 years, and was known warmly as as “Lawsie” and “the Golden Tonsils” throughout that time.
One former Australian prime minister even called him “the broadcaster of the century”.
Following news of Laws’ passing, Hollywood star Russell Crowe paid tribute to his late friend on his official X account.
“John Laws was my neighbour for 23 years. He was a wise mentor, a mischievous mate and a very good friend,” he wrote in part of his post.
“I am deeply saddened by his passing, however, I am buoyed in the sure and certain knowledge that he led a magnificent life of achievement and adventure…”
Ray Hadley said Laws revolutionised the talk radio industry.
“In the latter years when he was at 2SM and tell me I was a copier… my reply was that if you were in the presence of someone who had perfected their craft, you’d be mad not to use some of that yourself,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
