Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell have been together for 12 years, and they seem to be as happy now as they were back then.

Bindi Irwin has shared a sweet tribute to her husband Chandler Powell on the 12th anniversary of the day they first met. Chandler, a former professional wakeboarder, first met Bindi while visiting Australia for a competition when they were both teenagers.

The pair have since married and share a four-year-old daughter, Grace. The young family is currently living in LA while they support Bindi’s brother, Robert Irwin, on Dancing With The Stars.

Taking to Instagram, the daughter of Steve Irwin shared two sweet photos that appear to have been taken on the same day she joined Robert onstage for his performance this week.

In the loved-up photos, Chandler held Bindi, who was wearing the gorgeous black strapless gown she wore onstage, in his arms.

“Twelve years ago I met the man of my dreams,” she wrote. “Chandler, my heart is yours.

“Always and forever.”

Not only was it the anniversary of the day they met, but it’s also Chandler’s birthday (in Australia at least).

Fans loved the post, with one person commenting, “You cuties! This is giving storybook magic like the kind of couple everyone roots for.”

“Can’t believe it’s been 12 years, you were born for each other,” wrote another.

“It’s amazing how much you two love each other other,” a third said.

Others said that they wished for a love like Bindi and Chandler’s, and admired “the look of love” on Chandler’s face.

How did Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell meet?

Bindi was just 15 in November 2013 when she first met Chandler, who was 17 at the time.

The pair instantly hit it off after she gave him and his family a tour around Australia Zoo.

Before leaving the Zoo, Chandler asked Bindi’s mum, Terri Irwin, if he could stay in touch with her daughter.

While he flew back to Florida, where he was attending college, and she stayed in Australia, the pair kept in touch.

Bindi shared her first post about him in July 2015, revealing he had joined Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Warriors team.

Bindi then first went public with the relationship while competing on Dancing With The Stars.

“We talk every day and are together every two to three months,” she told People at the time.

“Thankfully I’ve found someone who is an outdoors kind of person. We’ll go have adventures or picnic in the park.”

Ten years ago to the day, on November 14, 2015, Bindi and Chandler went Instagram official with a birthday post.

“Happy birthday to a person who inspires me every day,” she wrote.

“A soul who makes me smile no matter where I am in the world, despite any amount of distance.

“Thank you for the endless hugs, late-night conversations about life, holding my hand when a loud noise scares me and laughing along with all of my Bindi moments.

“I’m blessed to be a part of your world.”

Chandler moved to Australia in January 2018, and he proposed to Bindi the following year in July.

The pair married in a small wedding at the Zoo on March 25, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They only had three guests, Terri, Robert and her late father’s best friend, Wes Mannion.

Just a few months later, they announced that they were expecting their first daughter, who arrived on the one-year anniversary of their wedding, on March 25, 2021.
