MasterChef Australia favourites Declan Cleary and Sarah Todd have delighted fans after revealing a “beautiful new chapter” in their lives.

MasterChef Australia stars Declan Cleary and Sarah Todd have revealed they’re expecting a baby together, in a first for the hit TV show.

The popular couple, who met on season 17 of the popular cooking show as returning contestants, took to Instagram on Thursday to share their joy with fans.

“We are overjoyed to share that our little family is growing,” Cleary and Todd wrote alongside a carousel of photos, including one showing them holding a positive pregnancy test.

“These past months have been some of the most precious of our lives. A sacred time of holding this news close, letting it sink in, and soaking up all the emotions with those dearest to us.”

The Melbourne-based pair, who moved in together shortly after filming wrapped, said it had been “such a gift to sit in the wonder of it all, imagining the beautiful new chapter that lies ahead.”

The baby will be the first for Cleary, 27, and the second for Todd, 38, who shares her 14-year-old son Phoenix with her ex-fiancé.

They wrote that they feel “so deeply blessed knowing this little cherub will enter a world already brimming with so much love” between themselves, Phoenix, and Cleary’s dog, Sol.

“Our hearts are full to the brim, and we couldn’t be happier to finally share this joy with all of you. Thank you for being a part of this special moment in our lives. It means the world to us. With love, Sarah, Declan, Phoenix & Sol.”

The MasterChef Australia official account was quick to offer its congratulations, writing: “Yay! Can’t wait to meet the adorable (choux) bun in the oven!”

Fellow contestants also chimed in, with Julie Goodwin commenting, “Congratulations to you both, what a precious time you have ahead!” while season 17 winner Laura Sharrad adding: “Congrats lovers.”

Cleary and Todd confirmed their relationship in July, telling Stellar magazine they had felt a deep connection almost instantly after meeting on the show.

“We instantly got along and started spending a lot of time together. Nothing was ever rushed or forced- we just enjoyed spending time together,” Cleary said.

Todd admitted it can be difficult when your career and your personal life start to mesh into one, but added that it’s been “really special”.

The pair also addressed their 11-year age gap, saying it’s something that brings balance rather than challenge.

“Not only is she the most grounded, intelligent and creative person I’ve ever met, she has always appreciated me for who I am,” Cleary said of Todd.

“We connected through life experience; we’ve both been through a lot. We share the same values. There’s great chemistry between us. She keeps me classy, and I keep her a bit cheeky. Age is just background noise.”
