Today show fans can’t get enough of Danika Mason’s fill-in Dan Anstey.

The 40-year-old weekend weather presenter has been filling in for Danika this week on Channel Nine’s breakfast program.

They have quickly been won over by his hunky looks, good-natured demeanour and cheeky on-air banter with co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo.

A clip recently shared on social media showed Dan flaunting his strapping build and laid-back personality as Karl mischievously sprayed him with a water pistol.

Viewers loved the moment, flooding the comments section to demand that Dan be made a permanent member of the Today team.

Dan cheekily acknowledged his sharp dress sense, responding with: ‘Fashion with a purpose!’

‘This is not what I was expecting when I was told that every now and then I might “cop a spray” from Karl.’

With his movie-star good looks, easy charm and relaxed, down-to-earth vibe, Dan has clearly struck a chord with Today viewers.

He is the regular weather presenter on Weekend Today and often acts as a fill-in when a weekday star is absent.

In December, Dan and Samantha Armytage filled in for co-hosts Karl and Sarah as the regular hosts enjoyed their holidays – and quickly won over viewers, who called for their position to become permanent.

The pair raised eyebrows as they kicked off their first show together with a flirty exchange. 

Fans took to social media to praise Sam and Dan’s upbeat and engaging style – and claimed the show would be better if they were a permanent fixture.

‘Sam is great. I’m watching Today again after a long pause,’ one fan wrote.
