Nicole Kidman has broken her silence on the delicate state of her emotions – and how the Aussie star’s teenage daughters are faring amid her shock divorce from Keith Urban.

Nicole Kidman has spoken out about her feelings after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, and how the pair’s teenage daughters may be faring.

The Aussie Oscar-winning actress, 58, interviewed Wicked: For Good star Ariana Grande for Interview Magazine on Monday when their conversation turned to Nicole’s well-being amid the highly publicised separation.

Kidman filed for divorce from Keith after 19 years of marriage in September, citing “irreconcilable differences” while reports emerged the singer had already moved on with a younger woman in the music industry.

Nicole appeared to hint about her delicate emotional state to Grande.

“I’m hanging in there,” she said.

Kidman added she felt “safe” and “protected” while filming Practical Magic 2 with Sandra Bullock before news of her breakup went public. “Sandy Bullock and I, and then Joey King and Maisie (Williams) — we had an incredible cast,” she said.

“But I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved. It was just very, very safe.”

Kidman resided in pop star Boy George’s former mansion in Hampstead while filming the sequel to the 1998 classic fantasy film in September.

At the time, Urban fueled speculation the pair had split as rumours swirled he had not visited her in the UK while travelling across the US for work.

Nicole and Keith share biological daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, while the Aussie is also the mother to Bella Kidman Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30, from her former marriage to Tom Cruise.

Nicole became the primary residential parent of the teenagers while Keith will have them for 59 days of the year, according to their divorce filings.

Speaking to Grande about her daughters, the Aussie A-lister said it was “fascinating” girls had “armour that we didn’t get”, suggesting they were faring well amid the breakdown of their parents’ marriage.

Kidman said “a constant push-pull exists for everyone,” however, she argued this strain was lessened for the younger generations.

“The very, very young now have already gone, ‘We know exactly how to handle this.’”

“They don’t take a lot of things personally. They shrug it off.”

Nicole has made several recent media appearances with her daughters in the wake of her split, including at Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2026 show.

Sources close to her say she’s been leaning on the girls for support.

Meanwhile, Urban appears to be focusing on his music career, having performed at US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, at a high-profile private party earlier this month.

In recent weeks, rumours have emerged Urban was fed up with Nicole’s relentless work schedule or the Grammy winner grew weary of his wife’s greater global fame.

According to a source who spoke to American tabloid Radar Online, the demise of the marriage started in January following the release of Urban’s latest album, High.
