While most of The Block teams worked on their houses this year, one team also had something extra special that they were working on – a baby! House 1’s Emma and Ben announced they were expecting their first child while competing on the show.

And while the pair’s announcement only aired two months ago in August, they have already welcomed their baby boy. In an interview with Woman’s Day, Emma and Ben revealed their baby’s name is Bailey Colter Cox.

“We’re so overjoyed,” Emma told the publication.

While he was actually due three days after The Block auctions on October 28, Bailey arrived on Thursday, September 25, after a six-hour birth, with Emma describing it as “all systems go from around 11pm to 5am”.

“When my waters broke, I went in for monitoring and they were like, ‘Oh, it might be, it might not be. But we’ll try and push you out though because you’re pretty early.’”

“He really just didn’t want to miss the auction,” Emma said. “He was so determined to come into this world.”

Ben added that the timing is quite convenient as the pair have a few quiet weeks until things get a bit crazy before the auctions.

Because he was premature, Bailey will stay in hospital until doctors clear him to leave.

Emma described herself as “blessed” for having the perfect pregnancy that allowed her to work on The Block.

The pair add that Bailey will be at the auction in “his little Hard Yakka gear”.

The Block fans congratulated the pair on the arrival of Bailey, with one viewer writing, “Oh my, congratulations Emma & Ben, Bailey is absolutely gorgeous.”

“Welcome earth side little man. You have chosen two beautiful people to be your parents,” another said.

“This is wonderful news!! What awesome parents he will have,” wrote a third.
