After breaking the internet with his debut performance last week, Robert Irwin wowed viewers once again in the latest episode of Dancing With The Stars. The 21-year-old Wildlife Warrior, who is competing on the US version of the reality show, performed a tango routine to Junior Senior’s ‘Move Your Feet’ alongside his partner Witney Carson.

Fans quickly took to social media following the performance to declare that it was the “best dance of the night” and express their surprise over his “ridiculous” score from the judges. Carrie Ann Inaba gave him an 8/10, while Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli both awarded him 7/10.

“Robert and Witney deserved better than one 8, are we kidding?” one person wrote, while another added, “That should’ve been all 8s for Robert Irwin”.

“I’m so confused, wtf are these judges doing!” a third remarked, followed by someone else who said, “Robert being underscored by Derek to try and avoid the favouring allegations is so lame”.

“I thought that was a weird song choice to do a tango to, but Robert devoured that! I still can’t believe he’s this good and it’s only week 2,” a different user commented.

Viewers divided over ‘underwhelming’ performance

Meanwhile, others agreed with the judges that Robert’s mid-performance dance break was “odd” and he “didn’t need the gimmicks”.

“Is this a safe place to say I thought Robert’s dance was underwhelming?” one viewer shared, with another adding, “They scored Robert and Witney correctly! Because something was off tonight! It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as good as last week either”.

“I would love to give Robert a 7, but that was not a tango,” someone else remarked, followed by one fan who said, “Robert is such a joy to watch, but I wasn’t in love with this tango”.

Robert’s total score of 22 landed him at the top of the leaderboard alongside The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt.

Julia Morris, who hosts I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Robert, previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that she was thrilled for Robert’s new venture.

“You watch him take it, too!” she remarked. “Dancing, it’s really difficult, but way to get conservation out there.”
