Prince William left stunned Robert Irwin when he made a surprise appearance on Dancing With The Stars. The Prince of Wales appeared via Zoom before the 21-year-old and his dancing partner, Witney Carson, took to the stage.

With Robert busy on the celebrity TV show, he was unable to attend an event in Rio de Janeiro to fulfil his duties as an ambassador for the Earthshot Prize, an annual competition launched by William to recognise those working to help tackle environmental issues. But the next in line to the British throne wanted to send the wildlife warrior an encouraging message.

“We’re missing you Robert. Whilst your twinkle toes are going off elsewhere, I need you down here,” William told him.

He added that Robert and Witney had “a seriously good chance” of winning the competition and wished them luck.

“Means the absolute world, thank you,” Robert said in reply.

William told Witney that she needed to get Irwin “in as much glitter as you can”.

“I can’t believe he just said my name!” Witney exclaimed.

Fans couldn’t believe the moment when it flashed on their TV screens.

“When you’ve got actual royalty backing you, wow. And I love the look on Witney’s face,” said one viewer.

“Robert got flowers from Jonathan Bailey after Wicked Night and a Zoom call from Prince William this week,” another pointed out. “I think he wins the prize for biggest surprises ever on this show.”

Others joked that the moment wasn’t on their “bingo card” for the episode.

The call aired before Robert and Witney earned a perfect score for a dance that was in tribute to his father, Steve Irwin, but also inspired by a performance Bindi had previously performed on the show 10 years ago.

Bindi’s original dance was to the Leona Lewis song ‘Footprints in the Sand’, with the then-17-year-old also scoring 10s across the board for the emotional performance.

The evening was full of surprises, because not only did Prince William appear on the show, but Bindi also joined Robert on stage at the end of his dance.

The crowd went wild as the performance ended with clips of Robert with his dad being projected on the floor of the ballroom.

Robert was overcome with emotion and was embraced by Witney and Bindi after falling to the ground.

Fans were thrilled to see Robert finally earn his perfect score after weeks of pleading with the judges to give it to him.

“When Bindi came out I absolutely sobbbbbbbed,” one person wrote of the moment the siblings danced together.

“No one more deserving of the first perfect score of the season,” another said.

“I will never emotionally recover from this,” wrote a third.

Countless others said they were sure that Robert and Witney would win this season.

The perfect ranking comes after weeks of fans saying the Australian deserved the highest score for several of his performances throughout the series.
