Disappointing auction day results have fans all saying the same thing.
After one of the most dramatic auctions in The Block history, where homes struggled to sell and fan frustration reached boiling point, many viewers are questioning whether the long-running renovation series has finally hit its limit.
Season 21 wrapped in Daylesford with mixed emotions: huge profits for one house, heartbreak for others, and plenty of online chatter about whether the show has lost touch with its roots. But despite the backlash and growing calls for The Block to be axed or seriously revamped, Channel Nine isn’t slowing down.
Host Scotty Cam has already confirmed that the next season, The Block 2026, is full steam ahead, with a brand-new build location locked in.
The 2026 season will be filmed in Mount Eliza, a luxurious coastal town on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.
“We’re looking forward to that,” Scotty told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick. “I’m going to go down there next week; I’m going to pop into Mount Eliza and have a look for a house to rent for three months.”

According to the Herald Sun, The Block recently acquired a 1.35-hectare property in the suburb, with multiple industry sources reporting that the site, located at 109 Old Mornington Road, was sold by former racing driver Rusty French for close to $11 million.
The first three seasons of The Block were all filmed in New South Wales; in Bondi Beach, Manly and Vaucluse respectively, but the series moved to Melbourne for season four and hasn’t looked back since.
The reason for this is suspected to be because the majority of the hosts and judges live and/or have family in Melbourne, and that their long-term commercial partners are also Melbourne-based.

TV insiders previously suggested we could have seen a Block-first in 2026 in terms of location, with the renovation series reportedly originally eyeing off Queensland for the first time ever.
A source told Yahoo Lifestyle last year that the Sunshine State could have become the new home of The Block in 2026, with multiple signs suggesting this.
“The locations for The Block being in Victoria has had a lot to do with the creators all having family in Melbourne, but the word on the street is that the location scout who works with Executive Producer Julian Cress has been asked to look outside of the state and try something new,” the insider shared.
“One of the judges was also heard publicly supporting the move. The move is on the cards and I think the fans are ready for it,” the source added. “Channel Nine are keen to brighten up the show and they feel like the warmer weather might also be a positive change for the contestants.”

Real estate expert and The Block judge Marty Fox appeared on Chrissie Swan’s podcast in October 2024, where he shared that he would love to see the show be filmed in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.
“Seriously […] this needs to happen,” Marty said. “You need to get to Burleigh Heads. It would be off its head. The visuals, the beach, the energy, the people… That’s where it should be, I think.”
“They’ll get buyers from all over Australia, not just local,” he added. “And land’s actually not that expensive, compared to trying to do things in Melbourne.”
This move would be ideal for host Shelley Craft who actually lives in Byron Bay, and has been commuting for over 10 years.
