Nicole Kidman has made her first public appearance since her split from Keith Urban, sharing a quietly powerful message that hinted at how she’s coping behind the scenes.

Nicole Kidman has put on a brave face while calling for compassion and unity at her first public appearance since filing for divorce from Keith Urban.

The 58-year-old Australian actress attended the amFAR charity auction at the Dallas home of United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby on Saturday, joining her Special Ops: Lioness collaborator and close friend Taylor Sheridan, 55.

During the event, Kidman presented Sheridan with the Award of Inspiration for his artistic and humanitarian achievements.

Wearing an elegant off-the-shoulder dark pencil gown with natural makeup and her signature strawberry-blonde hair flowing loose, the Oscar winner delivered a short but heartfelt speech.

“I think what Taylor recognises, as we all do, is that we are all more alike than we are different, and that we are better when we look out for each other, and that of course is why we’re here tonight,” she said in footage shared by People.

“What better way to support, to elevate our common humanity than to help fund bold and innovative research.”

The event marked Kidman’s first public outing since filing for divorce from her husband of 19 years last Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

Although the pair had reportedly been living apart since July, insiders say Kidman fought to save the marriage and protect her family with Urban, 57, with whom she shares daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

It’s understood Urban ultimately initiated the split, telling Kidman he was “unhappy” in their marriage and had already moved on with another woman.

Days later, the country star made his own quiet statement, stepping on stage in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Friday without his wedding ring.

Fans also noticed he omitted The Fighter, his duet with Carrie Underwood, inspired by Kidman, for the first time on his High and Alive World Tour.
Earlier in the week, a resurfaced clip showed Urban changing the song’s lyric to address his 25-year-old guitarist Maggie Baugh, singing “Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player” before embracing her- prompting backlash from fans who viewed it as disrespectful to Kidman.
Urban also dropped another track long associated with his marriage, One Too Many, replacing it with Making Memories of Us during his encore. An insider later told celebrity reporter Rob Shuter that Urban had given his gold wedding band to one of his daughters.

“It wasn’t about getting back with Nicole,” a Nashville source said. “It was about legacy. Keith wanted his child to understand that marriage-and the love that created her- mattered. He didn’t want to toss it in a drawer.”
