Sunday night’s room reveals received a mixed reaction from the judges.

The Block viewers were left baffled watching Sunday night’s episode when, for the first time in the show’s history, three teams failed to complete their rooms ahead of judging. This week, the contestants were tasked with renovating the guest bedroom and ensuite, in addition to preparing their entire house for 100 potential buyers at the Domain Buyers Jury event.
Only two teams managed to accomplish all of their tasks and present two completed rooms, while their co-stars faltered at the finish line. With the same area, timeframe, and suggested budget of $30,000, here’s what they revealed to the judges.
House 1 (Emma and Ben)
Emma and Ben received high praise for their two rooms this week, with Darren Palmer and Shaynna Blaze both scoring them a perfect 10. The judges applauded them for including a kitchenette in their guest bedroom and continuing their Daylesford aesthetic with the colour palette and furniture choices.
“This is a lot of bang for your buck,” Darren said. “This is so, so much amenity and so much inclusion, and drama. It’s a really beautiful welcome to the space.”

House 2 (Han and Can)
The judges loved Han and Can’s use of colour and said it was “far more successful” than their main bedroom in week 4. They also admired their “sophisticated” bathroom, praising the colour palette, tiles, and resin sink, but were left disappointed that it wasn’t finished.
“I think it’s a good room. It just lacks that major amenity,” Marty Fox said, referring to the fact that they didn’t have a kitchenette.

House 3 (Britt and Taz)
Britt and Taz thrilled the judges with their kitchenette, complete with a fridge, microwave, toaster, and kettle, but were criticised for their wood panelling and limited wardrobe space. The judges were shocked when they entered the bathroom and saw that it hadn’t been tiled, and said it was “heartbreaking” because they had a perfect layout, massive shower, and impressive skylight.
“I’m so disappointed for them, because something major has gone wrong here,” Shaynna remarked, while Marty added, “I mean, if this was finished, it would have been a contender this week”.

House 4 (Sonny and Alicia)
Sonny and Alicia were the second team who completed their room, and were applauded for their colour drenching, light sconces, and custom wallpaper they designed themselves. They were also commended for their bathroom, which had a warm tone and minimal styling.
“They have really stepped up, haven’t they? I finally feel like Sonny and Alicia have got their groove,” Shaynna said. “This makes me feel so good, I love this.”

House 5 (Robby and Mat)
Rounding out the cast, Robby and Mat delivered an impressive bedroom but failed to complete their bathroom. The judges loved their hand-painted feature wall, furniture, and colour palette, but said it was a shame they didn’t complete their “fabulous” bathroom.
“I just think their choices were beautiful. Like wow, this could have been a really hot contender,” Shaynna shared, with Marty agreeing it could have “easily been a winner”.

Who won The Block week eight?
In the end, it was just Emma and Ben and Sonny and Alicia in the running as they presented two finished rooms. Emma and Ben ultimately took out the win and $10,000 cash prize, as well as an additional $20,000 for scoring two perfect 10s.
Meanwhile, for the sixth time this season, Sonny and Alicia were announced as the winners of the $10,000 Commonwealth Bank award for spending the least amount of money.
