10 News has revealed its Afternoon bulletin will not return in the new year. The change comes as the network has decided to expand other news bulletins.
In an internal email obtained by Yahoo Lifestyle, Channel 10 staff were told that “there will be no impact from this change on staffing or jobs” and that it’s “no reflection on the work our daytime team has done”. Paramount’s head of news, Martin White, added that there would be no changes to lunchtime news.
“This is based on putting more of our news and resources where – research tells us – there are more viewers,” he said in the memo to staff.
“We want our audience to see as much of your work as possible, on as many platforms as possible.”
The Afternoon bulletin was launched in 2024, and was presented by Narelda Jacobs.
It used much of the same staff and content as the lunchtime news bulletin.
The Late News bulletin, hosted by Ursula Heger, will move to 9:30pm and will be 60 minutes.
“This is a recognition of the bulletin’s phenomenal success over the past 12 months,” White said.
“Everyone involved has done a remarkable job, reimagining a show that is a core part of 10’s DNA.”
The national weekend bulletin will see a “slight change” in the new year.
10 News+ will be going to half an hour, while Sunday’s network news will become 90 minutes, which will match Saturday’s bulletin and format.
In the email, White also thanked Chris Bath, who will leave 10 News at the end of the year.
She was praised for her “passion, dedication and contribution” during her seven years with the network.
“She will always be a valued member of the 10 family,” the network head said.
Georgie Tunny will step in to replace her from February 2026 for the weekend bulletins.
She has appeared on The Project, the ABC, Flash, Fox Sports and national radio.
“The trust the viewers, the News team, and the wider Network 10 community has shown in me throughout my career is incredibly gratifying,” she said about the career change.
“I can’t wait to get started and deliver the news that matters with integrity and heart in 2026.”
White said Georgie is a “great journo and presenter” and believes she’ll do “a brilliant job, helping us break down the big stories of the day for Australians every Saturday and Sunday”.
