Samantha Armytage has addressed rumours she is set to replace Sarah Abo on the Today.

The TV personality, who will host the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor Australia, responded to the speculation during an interview on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O show on Monday.

‘What’s the rumours of The Today Show thing now? Is that just hyped-up rubbish?’ co-host Kyle Sandilands asked.

Samantha admitted that no one has approached her and asked whether she would consider the role.

‘Kyle, you know how this game works. No one said it. You know, obviously this week has been busy because I’m doing lots of publicity for the show,’ she explained.

‘So, I think it’s kind of gone hand in glove that there’s a chant about that after Golden Bachelor.’

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson then asked if she would ever consider the role.

‘I’m really happy in prime time. This is what I came to Channel Nine for,’ Samantha responded.

Jackie then joked: ‘That’s a Hailey Bieber-style dig. You just started a feud.’

‘No, I think Karl [Stefanovic] and Sarah are fabulous but this is where it’s at for me. I’m really happy. This is my show,’ Samantha said.

‘It’s on air tonight. Finally. It’s been a few months because we filmed earlier in the year, so it’s been a long time to get here.’

A bombshell report was released earlier this month that alleged Samantha was in secret talks to replace Sarah and become Karl’s new co-host on the Today show.

A Nine insider told Daily Mail some staff members were ‘terrified’ of the former Sunrise star joining the breakfast show line-up — and that Sarah was fuming at how the network has handled the situation.

According to a senior TV insider, Nine was battling an in-house divide, with some staff members hopeful that Samantha would increase the breakfast show’s audience against Seven, while others feared she might be difficult to work with behind the scenes.

‘There’s a big team split at Nine,’ the source said.

‘Junior staff on Today are terrified to work for Sam because of her reputation for being a bit difficult at Sunrise.

‘The more senior people get it. They think that she will bring in new audience… and Today needs it.

‘But they’re also concerned that Sam and Karl will blow each other up with their egos.’
