Episode 6 Recap: Tears, Roses and “Netflix and Chill” Chaos on The Golden Bachelor

It was another emotional, rose-scented rollercoaster on The Golden Bachelor last night as seven women packed their bags, one refused a rose, and the nation collectively reached for the tissues during an unexpectedly moving home movie night.

The drama began at the fifth rose ceremony, where Bear—our ever-patient Bachelor—called Terri’s name, only to be met with the kind of reality TV moment that producers dream about.

“I’ve thought long and hard about it and I’m not going to accept your rose,” she told Bear.

The room fell silent. Gasps echoed. Even the chandeliers trembled.

Bear, visibly shaken, followed Terri aside as she explained, “I don’t want to get hurt.” And just like that, she walked away, leaving a perfectly good rose behind and Bear to face a mansion full of stunned contestants.

Host Samantha Armytage swiftly stepped in to confirm that Terri’s rose was still in play—meaning not one, but five women were going home that night. Brutal doesn’t even begin to cover it.

When the petals settled, Bianca, Elizete, Pip and Shamse joined Terri in heading home. Ever the queen of exit lines, Bianca whispered, “I get to take my Spanx off now,” as she left. Poetry in motion.

Not everyone watching at home agreed with Bear’s decisions. One viewer posted, “Can’t believe he let Pip go and kept Laurén,” while another admitted, “Aww Terri piked because she doesn’t want to be hurt.”

The next morning, the mansion was as flat as a week-old bottle of bubbles. With spirits low and the women still reeling from the night before, Bear organised a much-needed pamper day—complete with massages, facials, and questionable waxing decisions.

Sunny’s reaction to Bear’s massage technique could best be described as… expressive. Meanwhile, Bear bravely agreed to a leg wax, a decision he regretted almost instantly.

The audience had plenty to say about that too. “That wig ages Sunny so much. Her natural hair is definitely better,” one fan quipped, before adding, “Sunny’s daughters are stunning!”

Then came a glimmer of romance. Bear whisked Kim away in a red sports car for a solo date. Kim was thrilled—until she discovered the destination: a restaurant kitchen.

“This is my worst nightmare!” she declared, staring down a chopping board like it had personally wronged her.

Bear, ever resourceful, brought along his late mother’s handwritten recipe book, and together they cooked his father’s favourite mac and cheese.

“Macaroni and cheese…” one viewer sighed online, clearly unimpressed by the choice of comfort food for romance. Another wasn’t buying the chemistry either, commenting, “I don’t feel the chemistry between Bear and Kim. He seems a little uncomfortable.”

Still, the date ended on a spicy note when the pair discussed the finer points of “Netflix and chill.”

Kim confessed she once invited her kids to “Netflix and chill” without realising what it actually meant.

“It means you want to make mad, passionate love with them in front of Netflix,” she explained to a horrified Bear.

After laughter (and some blushing), the pair shared a kiss, sealing the date with a rose and, as Kim put it, “all sorts of flutters and all sorts of tingly.”

Viewers were quick to notice just how many kisses Bear was handing out this week, with one horrified fan writing, “All I could think when Bear kissed four women on the lips one after the other… BACTERIAAAASS!”

Back at the mansion, the mood turned heartfelt when Bear surprised the remaining women with a movie night—but instead of popcorn flicks, they watched home videos from their families.

There were tears all round as loved ones sent messages of love and encouragement. Sunny’s daughters urged her to let go of her guilt about working too much, while Kim’s children and stepchildren told her she deserved to find happiness again.

Then, Bear shared his own story. The women—and viewers—were deeply moved as he played footage of his late wife Audrey, detailing her battle with a brain tumour and how he raised his sons alone after her passing. The moment left everyone in tears and brought a genuine sense of closeness to the group.

One fan summed it up perfectly: “Jan’s classy – I like her!” while another added, “Not the least bit surprised Catherine could play piano – and love how toned she is!”

But there was no time to dry eyes before another rose ceremony. Kim already had her rose, and nerves ran high as Bear called the names of Sunny, Janette, Gera, and Jan. Sadly, Lauren and Catherine were sent home, leaving just five women in the running.

At least one viewer was amused by the ongoing name confusion, joking, “I just realised who ‘Law Ren’ reminds me of when she smiles – Tori Spelling!”

With only a handful of contestants remaining, next week promises even more emotional twists—with talk of dancing dates, cruises, and a cocktail party showdown on the horizon. Will Bear finally find his forever love—or just another reason to reach for the tissues?
