An Australian singer known to be a “showstopper” who starred on The Voice Australia has died at the age of 56 after losing her battle with cancer.
Virginia Lillye, a singer who performed on The Voice Australia has died at the age of 56 after losing her battle with ovarian cancer.
Aussie singer-songwriter Don Spencer broke the devastating news on social media revealing his sadness after Lillye died.
“I am terribly saddened to hear that the beautiful Virginia Lillye has lost her battle with cancer,” Spencer said on Instagram.
“Virginia was not only an amazing talent but one of the loveliest people you could meet.”

Spencer added Lillye performed many times to help raise funds for the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.
“She was an absolute showstopper. My deepest sympathy to Julian and her family. R.I.P Virginia x.”
Her music group the Filthy Animals Band paid a special tribute to Lillye.

“She was beyond courageous and fought like a true warrior but not every battle can be won,” the band said on Instagram.
“Virginia was a powerhouse of love, life, talent and tenacity. She will be so missed.
“Fly free you magnificent woman and thank you for shining your light on us…it was so bright we had to wear shades.”
Lillye rose to fame following her debut performance on season nine of The Voice in 2020.
Following The Voice she had been undergoing treatment for advanced ovarian cancer after she was diagnosed in 2023.
The music star spoke publicly about her health battles after experiencing severe stomach pains.

“It’s a silent cancer that doesn’t make its appearance known until it’s stage three,” she told the Daily Mail.
“Ovarian cancer doesn’t get as much attention as other cancers. It’s a sneaky cancer with the symptoms coming on late in the diagnosis.
“It usually gets to stage three before you know what’s happening. There needs to be more awareness among society. More funds need to be raised to help instigate finding ways to discovering earlier diagnosis.”
Before her death, Lillye went through several rounds of chemotherapy, while at the same time suffered multiple infections during her treatment.
On her Instagram she described herself as a singer, artist and creative soul.
Lillye had a decade long career where she shared the stage with musicians from KISS, Guns N’ Roses, Screaming Jets, Noiseworks, The Angels, and INXS.
