EXCLUSIVE: Britt and Taz reveal whether they’ve managed to mend their friendship with Sonny and Alicia.

With just a few weeks left on this year’s season of The Block, it’s clear that some teams are willing to do whatever it takes to score a win. House 4’s Sonny and Alicia frustrated their co-stars in Tuesday night’s episode when, for the second time this season, they voted against a time extension.
While previous seasons have allowed contestants to work on their houses all day and night, this year’s cast has to unanimously agree on extending working hours if they require more time. House 3’s Britt and Taz tell Yahoo Lifestyle that it was extremely frustrating when Sonny and Alicia voted ‘no’ to the extension in the hopes it would increase their chances of winning, especially after presenting an unfinished room last week.
“We never played the game in a way like, let’s drag other teams down so we can win,” Taz says, while Britt adds, “If we’re going to win, we want to win on our own merits, not by bringing other people down”.
The West Australian couple shares that they’re not the only ones this season who focused solely on ‘the build’, rather than strategising.
“Han and Can also said the same thing; they don’t want to win by doing this, they want to win by doing the right thing,” Taz says. “And look, last week, those two hours were the difference between us finishing our waterproofing and potentially getting our bathroom together and not.
“So this week, I think we were doing okay, but we still would never refuse extra hours, because everyone’s flat out. I think even [Sonny and Alicia’s tilers] the Cursio brothers said it themselves, ‘We’d have more hours, why didn’t you say yes? We could use it as well’. But yeah, it is what it is.”

Are Britt and Taz still friends with Sonny and Alicia?
Time and time again, The Block has seen friendships form in the early weeks of the competition and fall apart at the halfway point. This year’s season is no different, with Britt and Alicia currently acting more like strangers than the best friends they once were.
While viewers have questioned whether the former BFFs will manage to rekindle their friendship by the end of the season, things don’t seem promising.
“I think we’re all civil,” Britt remarks. “We’re all adults at the end of the day, and we all understand we’re representing Channel 9 and we’re representing The Block.
“It’s not like previous years, where people couldn’t be in the same room. It’s not like that. This year’s a little bit different in that sense. We’re all civil.”
Taz adds that it’s “difficult to go back to how it was” after seeing Sonny and Alicia’s talk about them on the show.
“You’re hearing people talk about you behind your back, but stuff they alleged, ‘We’d say to your face’ was never said to our face,” he shares.
“The time for forgiveness and everything like that was there, but they just hold on to things, so we can’t really just keep going the way we were going.”
