Strap on in. It’s Blockpocalypse time, with five rooms, 18 inspections and about 246 meltdowns anticipated this week!
Whether tonight’s first will be thanks to Can’s decision to take a five hour round trip to pick up tiles in the Cursios’ truck remains to be seen.
While things continue to go to plan in House 4 (and House 4 only), next door Taz fails an insulation inspection and down in House 5, Mat’s informed that a floor change to their laundry has added a lot of extra, time-consuming work to their to-do list.
Then in House 2, Foreman Dan discovers a problem with the walls of their own floor plan changes that could snowball and push everything else back.
That’s not all, either.
The teams have also needed to submit plans for their sheds, which they’ll be working on next week, and Han’s bright idea is to turns theirs’ into an office with a kitchenette for a work-from-home space.
Dan informs her that the space cannot be “habitable”, which means everything she planned is a no go.
Oh no. (Nine)
She feels completely defeated… which is why it is really, really unfortunate timing for Dan to discover another problem.
This time, it’s that their builder has used the wrong screws and washers.
“I quit today,” Han reacts.
But in reality, she needs the opposite: more of today.
Soon, she, Emma and Britt start a march down site in support of extended hours.
However, once they get to House 4 they’re slapped with a big fat “nope”.
“I haven’t won a room yet. There’s one more room to win, if the four of you don’t finish I might finally win one,” he tells the dejected group.
Han heads back to House 2 and is upset about the lack of help, especially in the wake of Can being off site picking up other team’s tiles.
“To me, it’s rude. Really rude,” she reacts.
“It doesn’t align with my values.” (Nine)
To make matters worse, tonight is the night that House’s 2, 4 and 5 head out to dinner at the Lake House Daylesford – one of their prizes for winning the Rex Theatre challenge.
Awkward.
At least Mat’s excited!
Han explains that she’s had a rough day and is just hurt by their decision, and Sonny says that he’s playing the game for himself, Leesh and their family.
No regrets! (Nine)
“You can take it, leave it, think I’m an arsehole, I don’t [care],” he says.
Everyone can agree it’s not personal so they soon move onto more important matters, like ‘kiss, marry, kill’.
It certainly brightens the mood in House 2 the next morning.
House 5 too… we think?
Good mood or breakdown? (Nine)
Dan’s not in a laughing mood however, as he shows Robby to a disaster unfolding in their powder room.
Ladders, tools, metal screws are all wreaking havoc on their unprotected, and now damaged, waterproofing.
“This is just ridiculous right now,” the foreman says.
It will need to be redone, which means they may not be ready for Freedom to install cabinetry.
Han is smiling ear-to-ear as House 2 makes the Freedom deadline against all odds, as cabinets start to be put up right across site.
Except for in House 5.
They have no components in any of their five rooms yet. Unless you count plasterboard, which you probably should not.
To make matters worse, Dan is in their house looking like this:
Not a good sign. (Nine)
Their floor plan changes to move their laundry have not taken into account a waste pipe, which now requires late changes to walls and cabinets to hide.
They also need to rip up all their waterproofing in the laundry and raise the floor level with structural cement to make it fall towards the drain.
Just a small job!
“Oh we’re doomed,” Robby reacts.
Ah, Blockpocalypse. It’s really living up to its name, isn’t it?
Tomorrow night, the blows keep coming for Robby and Mat, before Sonny stirs the pot (that’s already been styled in House 3’s yard, it seems!) and some very familiar All Star faces return.
