One Golden Bachelor, 20 accomplished women and five weeks later and we’ve reached the finale of Bear’s love story.

Just two women remain – Janette and Sunny.

The finale had us clutching our pearls. The emotional rollercoaster started with a nail-biting meet-the-family, heart-racing final dates in South Africa before a devastating break-up and a fairytale ending!

Janette meets Bear’s family

It was no secret that Janette had been struggling to open up, missing multiple opportunities to tell Bear how deeply she felt for him.

As Janette readied to meet Bear’s family including his sons and brother, Janette worried that only more pressure would mount.

After warm introductions, Bear’s brother Tim started his quiz.

‘Why are you here? What are you looking for? When was your divorce? Why did you divorce? Have you found love?’

“I won’t say I love him at the moment,” she answered.

“Right. Why?” Tim replied.

She felt it was too soon and stumbled through an answer about her feelings, but left disappointed in how it went.

Even still, Bear’s family were certain Janette would “fit right in”.

Then it was Sunny’s turn!

While Sunny’s had never been shy about her feelings, Bear’s concern were with her only being single for about six months.

This time, it’s Charlie and Jack who pull Sunny away for a chat – and they definitely learned some tips from their uncle about how to interrogate.

For the first time ever we saw Sunny rattled.

Charlie thought Sunny “could definitely be a risk” but she won the boys over with her honesty saying she’d “fallen in love” with Bear.

As their final meeting before the finale, Janette and Bear are off on a dream date – a wildlife safari.

They spotted zebra, elephants, buffalos, giraffe, hippos and lions so majestic they brought her to tears.

Afterwards, Janette and Bear settled around a fire pit for some quality time together.

While her walls were still up she made some space to tell Bear how she really felt.

“Love is a big word for me and I don’t say it very easily because it’s not a word, it’s a feeling… when I say it, it’s from the heart and that’s big for me,” she said.

“So I’m falling for you.”

Sunny’s final date

On Sunny’s final date she and Bear swam with penguins – at least that was the plan.

Sunny was so terrified by the moving penguins she pretty much clung to Bear the whole time.

At the end she declared her love for Bear yet again.

“I think you are the one for me,” she said. “I’m in love.”

It was finally time for Bear to choose between Janette and Sunny.

“Everything’s become very clear to me and I realised, for the first time in a very long time that I’m in love,” he said.

Bear debriefs with Samantha

Bear met Sam and while he was excited to declare his love to one of the women, he was sad about having to break the other’s heart.

“I’m certain I’ve found the one,” he declared.

But before Bear revealed who he was committing to, we needed to check out the stunning fashion looks from Samantha, Janette and Sunny.

For her final look of the season Samantha stepped out a metallic number that looked like liquid gold.

It featured a structured gathering by the shoulder and it’s safe to say we loved it!

For the moment of truth, Janette wore a pink flower embellished gown from Gold Couture.

With a structured shoulder and hand beaded pink and purple flower design, it was both bold and delicate – just like she has been during this journey.

The look was brought together by beautifully coiffed hair, House of Emmanuele Jewellery and Novo heels.

For the big moment, Sunny sparkled in a beautiful purple dress from Gold Couture.

With intricate crystals and sequins and a beaded shoulder sash, the look screamed romance – perfectly matching her feelings of love for Bear!

Sunny wore her hair in a half-up do, with delicate waves, simple diamond jewellery and clear heels from Steve Madden.

The first woman to step out of the car was…Janette.

Bear held her hands as he nervously shared his true feelings with her.

“Janette, I was so nervous about doing this,” he began.

“You deserve a love worth fighting for, but I’m so sorry, it’s not with me.”

Janette remained composed but didn’t entertain Bear’s explanation.

“Don’t disrespect Sunny by saying anything like that,” she stood firm.

Janette wanted to leave shortly after.

She told 9Entertainment initially she was certain Bear was going to choose her but knew that wasn’t the case when she saw a sadness in his eyes when they came face-to-face.

Even though Janette understood Bear had to follow his heart, the moment itself was overwhelming.

“I just wanted to run from that because I held back my tears, I put my wall up, and I thought, just be strong. And I just wanted to get off that mountain, rip my clothes off, rip my shoes off and and just rid myself of that day. You know? I wanted to go hide somewhere and have my little cry.”

Janette only let tears fall once she reached the car.

“Even though it hasn’t worked out I still have that sense of feeling empowered for showing my vulnerability,” she reflected.

In the moments leading up to Bear’s final decision Sunny was overcome with emotion.

She told 9Entertainment that there were at least three our four moments where she was unsure if she could follow through.

Bear finally told Sunny how he felt.

“From the moment I met you, you excited me,” he began.

“When I think about the future, the life I want to live, how I want to spend the rest of my days, I can’t imagine doing it without you.”

Sunny could barely contain her feelings and responded with her own message of love.

“For me, my life – dark days are gone and bright days are here because of you. My heart is full of joy and happiness and love for you,” she said.
