Episode 4 Recap: The latest episode of The Golden Bachelor Australia blends laughter, heartbreak and mayhem as love and loss collide in spectacular fashion.

It’s another sparkling evening on Channel 9’s The Golden Bachelor Australia, and somehow, this week’s episode manages to outdo itself in both heart and hilarity. Between a romantic date at Luna Park, a charity gala gone gloriously off the rails, and one of the most unpredictable rose ceremonies yet, this instalment delivered everything from tears to parrots — yes, parrots.

The morning kicks off with the women embracing poolside glamour as they splash about in matching floral swim caps, proving that synchronised swimming chic never goes out of style. Host Samantha Armytage soon appears, gold envelope in hand, to announce the next big moment — a single date for Terri, who’s positively glowing with anticipation (and perhaps mild chlorine).

Luna Park Lights and Love Confessions

Under the iconic Luna Park grin, Bear greets Terri for a night of old-school romance and bumper-car giggles. The pair have the entire amusement park to themselves, spinning through rollercoasters, carnival games and enough fairy floss to make a dentist weep.

Their chemistry is undeniable — though Bear’s attempts to show off his strength don’t quite go as planned. Still, Terri wins herself a giant teddy bear to match her Canadian beau and jokes, “I’ve got two bears this evening.”

Over dinner, Terri opens up about her ex-husband’s infidelity and the emotional walls that followed. She tells Bear she wants to build trust but refuses to fall into caretaker mode again, declaring, “I don’t want to be a nurse or a purse to any person.”

Moved by her honesty, Bear presents her with a rose and a heartfelt kiss to seal the deal. By night’s end, both admit their defences are coming down — and judging by their smiles, this connection might just stick.

Charity, Tears and Talent (Sort Of)

The next morning, Bear surprises the mansion with a heartfelt announcement: they’ll be hosting a Charity Gala in support of the Cancer Council. Having lost both his wife and mother to the disease, the cause hits close to home. The women, many of whom have their own stories of loss, are immediately on board.

Kim remembers her late husband’s brave three-year battle after a six-week prognosis. Elizete shares that she’s lost both parents and her brother in just three years. Sunny reveals she is a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed in 2017. It’s an emotional group moment that reinforces why they’re all there — and why this gala means so much.

But there’s a twist: the women must provide the entertainment for a crowd packed with Nine personalities. Cue equal parts panic and glitter.

Showtime: Aerobics, Parrots and Prostate Exams

The gala brings out an A-list audience including Abbie ChatfieldRichard WilkinsDavid CampbellSylvia JeffreysCam and Jules Merchant, and Angie Kent, who cheekily advises Bear to “pick someone who is your best friend — not the person you want to sleep with the most.”

The show opens with Jan, Janette and Catherine performing a leotard-clad aerobics number to Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical.” The crowd eats it up — and so does Bear, mostly out of sheer terror.

Next comes the educational portion of the evening as Dr Kim and Nurse Katrina demonstrate a mock prostate exam — with Bear as the (unwilling) volunteer. “Pass the lube, nurse!” Kim commands, as Bear’s face suggests he’d rather be back on the rollercoaster. Thankfully, she clarifies it can also be done via blood test. Public health message: achieved.

Then comes Lauren, bringing her parrot Mary McCaw for what she hopes will be a dignified animal act. Unfortunately, Mary has other ideas, promptly launching herself into the audience and dive-bombing the décor. Guests scream, Bear ducks for cover, and the bird quite literally flies away with the show.

Bianca lightens the mood with a stand-up comedy set, Shamse paints Bear’s portrait, and finally, Sunny and Elizete close the night with a moving dance performance. Sunny then takes the mic to share her cancer journey, leaving not a dry eye in the house.

When Samantha Armytage announces that the gala has raised over $10,000 for the Cancer Council, the room erupts. A chaotic triumph, but a triumph nonetheless.

Barefoot Cocktails and Crumbling Composure

Back at the mansion, the women celebrate by ditching their high heels. Bianca leads the charge in shouting “YOLO!” as stilettos fly through the air. When Bear arrives, he’s greeted by a group of barefoot women in formal gowns — a sight he seems both bewildered and impressed by.

He quickly pulls Sunny aside to thank her for sharing her story. She tells him she hopes her openness helps others feel less alone. Moved once again, Bear kisses her as she whispers her motto: Carpe Diem.

Elsewhere, Lauren worries she might be going home — especially after the bird incident — until Bear reassures her with a private chat that leaves her hopeful. Meanwhile, La Ren is still reeling from her chaotic gala act and blurts that she wants to “unpack” Bear. Interpret that as you will.

Janette and Katrina, on the other hand, are quietly nervous. The competition is heating up, and connections are deepening — just not necessarily theirs.

The Rose Ceremony

With Terri already safe thanks to her date rose, the tension is thick as Bear hands out the remaining flowers. Sunny is called first, followed by a flurry of relieved smiles. But when only JanKatrina, and Laura remain, hearts sink.

In the end, Jan is safe, while Laura and Katrina are sent home — a tough goodbye after such an emotional week.

Next stop? A road trip, of course. But with five eliminations looming, it’s anyone’s guess who will survive the journey.
