The Block stars Robby Lippet and Mat Johnson have broken their silence after their heartbreaking auction day result, in which they walked away with a meagre $109,999.
The best mates have revealed they were trying hard to stay positive after receiving such a disappointing outcome.
‘It’s not great, but it is what it is. It’s not about the money… but it’s about the money. Just to cover my costs for not being in the business or the work I said no to, it wouldn’t even cover that,’ Mat told 9Entertainment.
They revealed they would be splitting the winnings equally, ensuring each of them walked away with just under $55,000 – significantly less than they were expecting.
‘It sucks. It’s a lot of hard work that we put in, but it’s a beautiful house and I’m sure the buyer and all his guests are going to enjoy it a lot,’ Robbie said.
However, the pair remain optimistic about the future and said their experiences on the Channel Nine reno show was more valuable than money.

The best mates have revealed they were trying hard to stay positive after receiving such a disappointing outcome
‘We did building, drilling, screwing, laughing, crying. We created the worst bedhead on the planet,’ Mat said.
‘We met some beautiful best mates for a long time. This isn’t the end of us. Watch out Australia.’
It comes after Mat lashed out at a producer on Saturday after netting $109,999 at the show’s final auction.
The 41-year-old and his friend Robby’s property fetched $3.099 million, and they were bitterly disappointed with the result.
After the auction, Mat hit back at a producer who said he was being ‘a bit sensitive’.
‘We’re not sensitive, we’re f**ked off,’ he said before making it clear he wasn’t happy with the sale.
Following their media interviews Mat said ‘that was f**ked’ as he walked away from the cameras.
Elsewhere, winners Britt and Taz told Daily Mail why it is difficult to celebrate their win after taking home an impressive $3.41 million.

The couple said they are proud of what they achieved but disappointed the other teams got comparatively poor results.
Only three of the houses reached the reserve price, and two of them fetched only modest profits.
‘We want to be there for everyone. It’s hard work to see what happened today,’ Taz said.
He went on to say he is proud of Britt and the work they achieved on the show.
‘I’m very proud of Britt because I wasn’t keen to get on the show… it was never the right time,’ he admitted.
The other contestants also lashed out after the final results.
Several teams claimed the reserves were too high at $3million in a Daylesford where the average house price is a quarter of that, and Adrian Portelli’s absence also contributed to the disappointing outcome.
Western Australian couple Britt and Taz took out the top sale of the day – offloading their stylish House 3 for an impressive $3.41 million.
With a reserve of $2.99 million, the fan favourites walked away $420,000 richer – adding to that, a $100,000 bonus prize, netting them a total $520,000.
But it all went downhill from there.
Sonny and Alicia sold their home for $3.06 million – $120,000 above their $2.94 million reserve.
Despite the small yield, the couple were happy with the result.
But not everyone walked away with a sale, as both Emma and Ben, and Han and Can, failed to attract enough interest to get their properties over the line.
