Robert Irwin is standing up for his mother, Terri Irwin, amid ongoing rumors that there’s something between her and family friend Russell Crowe.

The 59-year-old widow of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin dropped in on a radio interview between her son and KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O as he makes the press rounds for British survival reality series I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Terri and Russell Crowe, who divorced from Danielle Spencer, his wife of 15 years, in 2018, have been linked to one another for several years, and Sandilands was desperate to get to the bottom of things while Robert was in the studio, asking if there was any truth to the rumors that the two had a relationship.

“Mum has been linked to something like 30 people since Dad passed away,” Robert told the host. “It’s ridiculous. Every single day it’s, I mean, it was King Charles. It was Russell. It was everyone. It’s all absolute nonsense.”

To everyone’s surprise, Terri had been outside the studio for the interview, and took it upon herself to crash the party once she was brought up.

“Have we been linked?” she asked the host. “I can’t remember.”

“I think we might have been,” he replied before flagrantly asking the mother of two who she’s been hooking up with.

“I have a lot of quiet evenings with a nice, big, juicy pizza,” she replied. It’s in line with the stance she’s maintained ever since Steve’s death. “I’ve stopped counting all the men I am supposed to have had flings with …the more recent one is John Travolta, which is new to the mix,” she told The Courier Mail in 2021, according to the Daily Mail. “But you know, and I keep saying this, and I think maybe 15 years later people are finally starting to believe me, Steve was it for me.”

The New Zealand-born actor is simply what they all say: a very good friend of the family. In fact, Bindi Irwin and her husband, Chandler Powell, recently gushed over the fig sapling he sent for their wedding on their fourth anniversary, showing off its permanent place in their landscape.

“The most thoughtful wedding gift from our dear friend @russellcrowe,” she wrote.
