Ariana Grande released her album Eternal Sunshine: Brighter Days Ahead and her fans are doing what fans do – dissecting the lyrics.

And they are convinced they’ve uncovered a diss about her ex-husband Dalton Gomez on a couple of tracks and are also sure she’s singing about her current love Ethan Slater, 32, on others.

Since their split in 2023 after two years of marriage, Ariana, 31, has been quite circumspect about not mentioning him or airing their dirty laundry.

All that is over now, if the lines ‘Were we just mistaken? / Disguised our intentions? / Our nest was a masquerade / Why do I still protect you? / Pretend these songs aren’t about you’ on the song Twilight Zone have fans convinced she’s dissing Dalton.

The song Past Life also appears to be about Dalton and their marriage.

‘Always wondered what would happen if I let you lose me / Always wondered what would happen if I let myself need more / Now I’m (I’m), fine (Fine), to leave you in a past life,’ the chorus states.

Hampstead, another song on the release has fans convinced its about Slater as that is where the Wicked star lived while filming the movie.

‘I was in Hampstead when I was here, and I loved my walks on the Heath,’ she told Radio 1.

‘I loved meandering around and visiting different shops and places and pubs.’

She sings about her time there in the lyrics: ‘I left my heart at a pub in Hampstead / And I misplaced my mind in a good way / Threw away my reputation but saved us more heartache.’

One intrepid fan compared a lyric from 2020’s POV (off her album Positions) that states, ‘I’d love to see me from your point of view’ to a lyric from Hampstead, which states, ‘I’d rather be seen and alive than dying by your point of view.’

Another fan shared short video clip with the caption, ‘Ariana when signing the divorce settlement to not mention dalton’s name or anything about the relationship publicly.

A third fan expressed a bit of rage on behalf of the pop princess, sharing a photo of a woman shooting a gun next to the lyric from Twilight Zone, ‘Did I dream the whole thing?’

The album also contains collaborations such as Yes, And? with Mariah Carey, Supernatural with Troye Sivan, along with an acoustic rendition of ‘Imperfect for You’ as well as an a cappella version of True Story.

When rumors of a secret romance between the Wicked co-stars first surfaced in 2023, critics doubted the love affair would last.

After all, the relationship began in scandal: in March 2023, Grande divorced her then-husband, real estate broker Dalton Gomez, while that September, Slater split from his now ex-wife and former high-school sweetheart Lilly-Jay, with whom he has a two-year-old son.

Allegations that Grande and Slater might have cheated on their spouses with each other – hotly denied by the actors – soon began swirling as fans scrutinized the timeline of their romance.
