Dylan Harper, the No. 2 recruit in the 2024 draft class, announced his decision for the 2025-26 season. The Rutgers Scarlett Knights joined ESPN reporter Malika Andrews on “NBA Today” to discuss the next step of his career.

On Monday, Harper, son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, declared for the 2025 NBA draft. After a 29-game season with the Scarlett Knights, he’s ready to take the next step. He averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

“I’ll be declaring to the 2025 NBA draft,” Harper said after thanking his family, friends, trainers and coaches.

Coming out of Don Bosco Prep, Harper joined forces with Ace Bailey again to compete with the Scarlett Knights. After a 15-17 overall record (8-12 in the Big Ten), their season came to an end against the USC Trojans in a 97-89 loss in the first round of the conference tournament.

Harper went out with 27 points, eight assists, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. The guard was named a third-team All-Big Ten and to the all-freshman squad. He broke Rutgers’ freshman scoring record while making 50 3-pointers. The

“NBA teams saw I am an all-around player,” Harper said, per Jonathan Givony. “I can do whatever it takes to win. Whether it’s score, defend or facilitate. Anything Coach needs me to do.”

The next step for Harper will be the NBA draft combine from May 11 through May 18. The big event is scheduled for June 25-26. Besides Harper and teammate Bailey, Duke star Cooper Flagg is expected to be selected in the first three selections of the night.
