The 2025 WNBA season is exactly a week away from tipping off. With that said, ESPN has released its rankings for the top 25 players in the league.

Caitlin Clark - Indiana Fever Guard - ESPN

Former No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark wasn’t included in last year’s preseason top 25. To be fair, she was just a rookie. It didn’t take long for her to quickly silence her doubters though. During her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, she averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.

After having a dominant rookie campaign, Clark cracked the top five for ESPN’s 2025 rankings.

“Clark dazzled as a rookie, particularly in the second half of the season, on her way to earning first-team All-WNBA honors and finishing fourth in MVP voting,” ESPN’s Alexa Philippou wrote.

“Now, with a real offseason under her belt to work on her game and some time to mentally recharge, she looks poised to have a memorable sophomore campaign.

With a new coach and some key free agency additions, Clark will have to adjust to playing in a new system and with new teammates, but spending all offseason training in Indianapolis with Fever coach Stephanie White and her staff should help ease the transition.”

Here’s the top 10 from ESPN:

    A’ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces
    Napheesa Collier, Minnesota Lynx
    Breanna Stewart, New York Liberty
    Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever
    Alyssa Thomas, Phoenix Mercury
    Jonquel Jones, New York Liberty
    Sabrina Ionescu, New York Liberty
    Nneka Ogwumike, Seattle Storm
    Jackie Young, Las Vegas Aces
    Kelsey Plum, Los Angeles Sparks

Even though Clark landed a spot in the top five, some WNBA fans found this ranking to be quite disrespectful.

“Caitlin at 4? She’s MVP for the next decade,” one fan declared.

“Caitlin Clark at number 4 is robbery. She is at the very worst number 2,” a second fan replied.

“No. 4 is insane,” a Fever fan commented. “Oh, ESPN.”

“Caitlin top 3 and might be top 2 tbh,” another Fever fan said.

Clark could very well cement her status as a top-two player in the WNBA this season, but it’s tough to put her over A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. They were all outstanding last year.

Do you think ESPN snubbed Clark by leaving her outside of the top three?
