Kate Beckinsale revealed that she suffered many injustices while working in the entertainment industry: from being sexually harassed on set to being insulted and attacked by co-stars…
Kate Beckinsale reveals the dark side of the entertainment industry
Amid Blake Lively suing co-star Justin Baldoni for sexual assault and orchestrating a smear campaign against her, star Kate Beckinsale shared the terrible experiences she had gone through.
The 51-year-old star praised Lively for boldly speaking out about what happened to her and giving people a realistic view of the problems that have existed in the industry for so many years.
According to the Daily Mail, in a recent Instagram post, the Pearl Harbor beauty said: “Actually, when I was 18, I was groped by someone I really trusted on the set.
After that, I went to see the lead actress of the film, who was known to be very supportive of women. I told her what happened to me but she said it wasn’t true.
I also went to see another actress, crying and saying: I was just attacked by that man. But once again, I was denied, this continued like that”.
The 51-year-old actress continued: “What really upsets me is seeing so many men going around and saying: things are so different from before, the environment is different and much better.
But no, it’s not different at all. If you are a woman and have legitimate complaints like: someone touched my chest, insulted me, then you are finished”.

Kate Beckinsale also revealed that she was called ugly, insulting words when she complained that she had to sit for 6 hours waiting for her co-star to arrive drunk on set.
The Underworld series star recalled: “I was in a movie where at the end of the project, people called me a ‘bitch’ because I said: I find it difficult when my co-star is drunk every day”.
She added: “He was obviously going through something and I completely sympathized. But I and the whole crew had to wait for him for 6 hours every day to learn his lines and that meant I wouldn’t see my daughter in the evening during filming”.
The British beauty also revealed that she was “ostracized” for speaking out about the incident that happened during filming.
Some netizens speculated that the co-star the actress was referring to was Ben Affleck (Beckinsale’s co-star in Pearl Harbor) because the actor is known for his alcoholism, but she denied it and gave much praise to her colleague.
“I won’t go into details about who is at fault and who is not. Honestly, the biggest problem is not the actors, but the reporting of problems or abusive behavior has led to punishments that are heavier than we can imagine,” she said.
The lawsuit between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has sparked discussions about the dark side that actors (especially women) face on set
Kate Beckinsale said she had spoken to her agent, manager, studio head and that the incident had been witnessed by many people, but to no avail.
“In one particular incident, the actor was so rude to me that he ruined part of my costume and tore my wig in half, not to mention bruising me, hitting me and scaring the hell out of me,” she said.
However, when she went to the studio head, she was not protected and was even punished and shunned. The 7X star emphasized: “Everyone in every profession should be respected and not punished for revealing that something serious happened to them at work.”
Kate Beckinsale continued: “I don’t want anyone (male or female) who has a legitimate complaint to be used against them in any industry, anywhere.
And I mention this in conjunction with Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni because our industry makes things more visible because the press, the public, intentionally participates and is led to an opinion that they don’t realize is intentional,” the actress said.
She added: “There are so many victims in this, many of whom I know personally. It’s really up to both men and women in our industry to work together to eradicate this once and for all.”
