Things have been pretty contentious between LeBron James and ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith over the past several days (to say the least).

After the Lakers superstar chose to confront Stephen A. (in the middle of a game no less) about some of the comments he made about James as a father and how he’s doing a disservice to his son, Bronny. Smith has since gone on a never-ending press tour giving his side of the events.
The whole situation hasn’t sat well with one of his ESPN colleagues, Michael Wilbon, and the longtime “Pardon the Interruption” host even said as much in a recent interview with OutKick.
Speaking on his network’s coverage of Bronny, here’s what the sports media veteran had to say about it:
I have a 17-year-old son, so this matters to me. I am particularly sensitive to it. I’d do anything for my kid, and I would hug LeBron for what he did for his kid.
There were shows that talked about Bronny every day. You know what shows I’m talking about. I don’t care if my bosses get mad.
They would try to get Tony and me to talk about it. No, we were not going to do it…They talked about him more than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That’s pandering. It’s all pandering. Let me be clear: our business is a piece of [expletive] a lot of days.
The “PTI” personality also touched upon the ongoing back-and-forth between LeBron and Stephen A. themselves.

Saying, “This whole LeBron and Stephen A. stuff, I just can’t. Enough. Stop it. I’m too old for it. I am too old to consume it. But [Brian] Windhorst didn’t deserve it.”
Wilbon is far from the only one to criticize how both sides have gone about this, and also how the media at-large has decided to cover Bronny’s journey in the NBA — and he almost certainly won’t be the last.
