San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has reportedly suffered a serious medical emergency.

According to TMZ, the five-time NBA champion left a restaurant in an ambulance on Tuesday after officials received a call for an elderly person who “fainted” at the location. TMZ shared a video of Popovich being placed onto a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance outside of a steakhouse.

TMZ reported that Popovich may be dealing with the lingering effects of a stroke he suffered in November.

“Our sources tell us Popovich appeared to still be dealing with the effects of the mild stroke he suffered in early November while at the establishment … and was there for close to two hours before suffering the medical emergency,” the outlet reported.

“Officials say they responded to the scene after receiving a call for an elderly person who had fainted… and the patient was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injury or illness.”

Fortunately, the report notes that Popovich was alert and talking by the time he was loaded into the ambulance.

Popovich is a five-time NBA champion and an Olympic gold medal-winning coach who holds the record for most wins in NBA history.

After his medical scare in November, Mitch Johnson took over the team. The team announced in February that Popovich would be missing the remainder of the season.

San Antonio went on to finish the season 34-48, missing the playoffs for the sixth year in a row.

We wish Coach Popovich all the best in his recovery. His basketball future can certainly wait a while longer.
