“I attended so many of George’s championship fights over his career. He was a knockout artist in the ring, and it was a pleasure getting to know him not only as a boxer but as a man.

After leaving the ring, he turned into an amazing businessman — I even bought one of the first George Foreman grills! Cookie and I will be praying for his family during this time.”

As Johnson mentioned, Foreman promoted his brand of electric grills after his boxing career, making hundreds of millions in revenue and endorsement money.

“Tonight, I am flooded with tears after learning of the death of my dear friend and broadcast partner George Foreman. I loved him,” said Jim Lampley, who worked with Foreman on HBO boxing broadcasts for many years.

“He was a great fighter and a far, far greater human being. Every great thing that ever happened to him, and there were many extraordinary blessings, was richly deserved. My thoughts and prayers tonight are with his family and his friends and his congregation.”
