Luka Doncic cried during the pregame introductions in Dallas on Wednesday evening.

Mavericks' Luka Doncic available vs. Celtics Friday

The former top NBA Draft pick out of Slovenia was shockingly traded by the Mavericks to the Lakers in early February. Two months later, he’s making his return to Dallas.

The All-NBA guard, who led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals last year, is set to play against the Mavs at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday evening. The Lakers at Mavericks game is airing on ESPN.

Before tipoff, the Mavericks played a lengthy tribute video for Doncic. The five-time first-team All-NBA selection could barely contain his emotions.

Doncic, now 26, put his head into a towel while some of the tribute video aired. You could see that Doncic was tearing up as the video played.

Luka was clearly overcome with emotion during the tribute video on Wednesday evening. After the tribute video played, he was introduced by the home PA announcer, before getting embraced by his Lakers teammates.

It’s shaping up to be a fascinating night in Dallas.

Doncic, who led the Mavericks to an NBA Finals loss against the Boston Celtics last year, is admittedly “still adjusting” to his time with the Lakers.

But he’s been his usual great self, averaging 27.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists for the Lakers. The Lakers are 48-31 on the year, emerging as a serious contender in the Western Conference.

“I know it’s been two months or something, but still adapting a little bit,” Doncic said recently. “It was a big change. But it’s getting better.”

The Mavericks vs. Lakers game is getting ready to tip off. It’ll air on ESPN.
