Jayson Tatum provided an update on a potential wrist injury following Game 1 against the Orlando Magic.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum shared an update on the state of his wrist and addressed any risk of injury after the fall in the fourth quarter of Game 1. While addressing the potential injury with the media after the game, the forward said:
“It’s alright. I just fell on it. Landed on it.”
Tatum followed up by sharing what his wrist felt like moments after the fall. “No, I just landed on it. It was just throbbing for a second.”
The forward also followed the necessary procedures to clear him for the upcoming games. He mentioned that the X-ray results came back clean, and he should be clear to play as well.
Celtics fans will be overjoyed to see their star healthy at this juncture. The forward was seen writhing in pain after a hard foul by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope following a dunk attempt early in the fourth quarter. The concern was justified given how vital the forward is to Boston’s rotation.

Tatum addressed the physicality in the game against the Orlando Magic as typical “playoff basketball”. This attitude is incredibly positive as it displays the mindset of the reigning champions heading into the postseason.
The Celtics emerged victorious in Game 1 with a commanding 103-86 win. The performance sets a tone for the series as Boston saw key performances from each of their players.
Tatum ended the game with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists. Not necessarily a performance befitting a star in light of a relatively poor shooting night, as he went 8-22 from the field.
Although the forward has faced criticism regarding his “star” power, it is safe to say that his influence on the game is often underrated and overlooked.
Meanwhile, his running mate, Jaylen Brown, also notched a sub-20-point night, with 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
The star performer for Boston in Game 1 was Derrick White. White shined with a crucial 30-point performance to make up for the low-scoring output from the stars.

The guard did most of the damage from beyond the arc as he went 7-12 for the game and overwhelmed the Magic’s perimeter defense. Payton Pritchard also played a vital role off the bench with 19 points on 4-6 shooting from three-point territory.
This win is a reflection of Boston’s depth and versatility. With players who are available and prepared to step up at a moment’s notice, the Celtics are rightfully seen as the team most likely to emerge from the East.
With a star like Jayson Tatum due to have a breakout performance on any given night, the Celtics will look to build upon this momentum with another win as Game 2 takes place on Wednesday at 7:00 pm ET.
