LeBron James had some fairly harsh words for longtime NBA insider Brian Windhorst during his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Today, Windhorst addressed it.

LeBron referred to Windhorst as “weird” while briefly mentioning Windhorst during his big interview on McAfee’s show.

“Yeah, this guy who says he’s like my (expletive) best friend,” James said. “These guys are just weird.”

But while LeBron was largely dismissive of any role that Windhorst may have had on him, Windhorst showed his true colors with his response to the statement.

Appearing on ESPN Cleveland, Windhorst took the high road and asserted that he owes LeBron “a lot” and has always been a good friend to both his hometown and his high school alma mater if not him personally. He humbly made it clear that LeBron owes him nothing.

“LeBron doesn’t owe me anything. I owe him a lot,” Windhorst said. “He has been a great friend to my hometown and my alma mater. That I would stand on. Anything else, I would never say or never stand on.

“Just know, I met LeBron 25 years ago. And my understanding of LeBron and where people stand in his life has been crystal clear.”

Basketball fans were delighted to see Windhorst taking the high road here and acknowledging that he owes LeBron more than LeBron owes him. Though a few did use it as a point to simply take potshots at LeBron.

Brian Windhorst Rant Gets Set Over Kendrick Lamar Diss Tracks: Listen

“Reasonable/honest response. The shot at him was false, classless, & uncalled for but Windy understands professional decorum. It’s pointless firing back like SAS did bc it’s a no-win situation given this dude got 53M & 159M followed on X/IG. A lot of them cult like & defensive,” one user wrote on X.

“It’s almost like Windhorst is a reasonable and a decent human being. As opposed to a narcissistic sociopathic athlete who punches down on people.

“Taking the high road lowkey a respectful move here ngl.”

“hey so this is how you respond with class btw cc @ other espn hosts.”

“I hate that Windy is getting lumped in with the likes of Stephen A and Kendrick Perkins, bc Windy is actually a good NBA analyst who is thoughtful and appears to really care about the game. More importantly, he’s not an [expletive] always searching for his viral moment.”

It’s good to know that there are at least SOME NBA analysts who will take the high road every now and then.
